The Trans-Kalahari road is a boundary shared by three countries: South Africa, Botswana and Namibia. The operation was conducted to unlock trade connections these three countries and develop the regional integration. This shared corridor is really important to support regional integration. It could be a great way in developing growth in this area of the continent. Actually, it strengthens the industrial development, the transports hubs, the labour production and the food production. Corridors are direct methods to bring about broader regional cohesion. According to the political leaders, the Trans Kalahari Corridor is a crucial and strategic road into the Southern African Development Community region. The Trans-Kalahari road offers a significant and strategic connection between the member states and the Southern African Development Community area.
They recently decided to strengthen the road control over the area. Indeed, many offences are reported: driving without any valid licence, conveying illegal migrants or cannabis, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The need to establish a joint law implementation is real. Trans-Kalahari Corridor aims at improving road safety and making sure that laws are well respected.
